We are enjoying a relaxing day sitting around the house with Van and Dede, and planning our shopping adventures for tomorrow.
The one thing that will always mark this year's holiday is the fact that this is the first year I baked a pumpkin pie from fresh pumpkins, from our own garden. We had 6 pumpkins in this year's harvest. 4 went to Halloween carving and 2 were set aside for Thanksgiving pies. I baked one of the pumpkins last night to make the puree and then today after our daytime meal, I was able to make 1 pie and 2 loaves of pumpkin bread. The bread is still in the oven, but it smells good. Along with all of this goodness is the fact that I was able to use farm(er city) fresh eggs in my recipie. My good friend Dorie brought them to me and I was excited to be able to use them in something special. I'm looking forward to tasting the pie and posting pictures of the process. Until then, here's a sneak peek.

Pie looks good, I am very proud of you that you actually made a pie and bread from you own pumpkins. Hope it all take good.
Take it from me, the pie and the bread was delicious. It was beautiful to look at and it tasted better than it looked, ha! (If that makes sense) Lisa did a great job baking and getting the pulp from the pumpkin. I've never seen it done before, so I learned a lot too. Lisa, you gotta feel good about it!!!
