happy birthday alice!

But lack of things to do is another story and one I don't know.
We kept quite busy this last weekend. Friday night was movie night and - of course - Alice's 1st birthday. We dined on Pizza Hut pizza and homemade birthday cake. Olivia and Hannah were at the ready to help with the blowing out of the candle and the opening of presents. Alice liked the presents, even though it didn't occur to her to open them. Kelly told her to pretend it was the Sunday newspaper. :) It was a fun night, but we wish that the family was closer so that they could have been there too.
The next day was Olivia's dance recital. She's at the end of the first session. She'll start another session on the 29th. Hannah even dared to get out there and dance. She has decided that she would like to take the class for her age next session too. This is the first organized activity that she's asked to do, so I hope she enjoys it. I think she will.
Speaking of dancing....the morning started with me finding a movie on TV while Kelly was sleeping in. It was called Stick It and I should probably be embarrassed that I liked it so much. :) But I did. I liked the gymnastics in it, and I liked that the girls pull together at the end instead of trying to back stab each other. But most of all, I liked this clip because it had the girls trying to do the worm all weekend. It was so funny!
On Saturday we also had Olivia's school's carnival. It was fun and she even worked in her class' booth for a while. I was really proud of how she just sat down and went right to work.
Here's a funny story - the night before the carnival, Hannah and Olivia helped me pick out a cake to donate for the cake walk. So we were getting ready to leave the carnival and Olivia says, "Wait. We have to get our cake!" We reminded her that we had donated the cake and that someone had won it in the cake walk. "You mean someone else took our cake?" She was a little upset that we had lost our cake. haha. It was pretty funny.
Olivia was home sick today. She woke up last night at about 3 am and had a fever and a pretty bad cough which she got from Kelly. But at least little Alice is finally on board with sleeping through the night. A week before her birthday we only gave her water when she woke up in the middle of the night and after 2 nights of that she started sleeping through. She's had some really early mornings (5 am) since then, but getting 6 or 7 hours of solid sleep has improved everyone's mood.

Sounds like you had a busy but fun weekend. Your girls are growing so fast and are learning something new every day. Looking forward to seeing everyone in April.
Yea!! Alice is sleeping through the night!! Good for all of you. Wish we could have been there for her birthday, we miss out on so much, but thank you for the newsy blog. I had to watch the clip of the movie you were watching Sat. and I have to say it was pretty good and I would have loved to have seen Olivia and Hannah doing the worm. I also love the cake story at the carnival!! I bet Olivia liked working in her class booth, I could just see her, she's so able to do everything. Busy weekend!!!!
